Amey joint venture

Purpose of role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead all aspects of the finance function for a new Amey joint venture which resides within the Secure Infrastructure Division within our Defence sector. The joint venture is due to mobilise from July 2020 with an in service date of at the start of June 2021. The contract is for a minimum 7 year duration with potential to expend for a further 3 years. This position is a key appointment within the joint venture and will play a critical part through contract mobilisation and progression to steady state. This will be a fantastic project for the right calibre of individual who will be involved in shaping the business from the outset and delivering a successful joint venture for our client and each respective parent company. 

Main responsibilities

Lead the creation of Asset Holding Company and Service Delivery Company along with all aspects of banking, taxation and working capital requirements.

Co-ordinate and control all aspects of financial governance for the two statutory joint ventures. Ensure that accounting activities are in compliance with established legal, regulatory and company procedures and that financial delegated authorities are adhered to.

Implement a robust financial reporting mechanism to enable comprehensive understanding of financial performance.
Responsibility for formulating forward looking budget and forecast models.
Ensure financial management is an integral partner and supportive element of the joint venture Senior Management team.
Ensure consistency, standardisation and continuous improvement is driven across the joint venture.
Ensure all stakeholders are proactively supported.
Lead change programmes to drive business efficiencies
Maximise financial performance of the Amey/Briggs joint venture with reference to assumptions made through the tendering process.
Establish a structure and build a finance team capable of providing excellent support to enhance the financial performance of the business.
Control working capital performance through constant monitoring and measurement against working capital targets.
Work closely with IT to enable implementation and roll out of new systems and processes within the joint venture.
Play an integral part in establishing the strategic direction of the business together with senior members of the joint venture and in conjunction with respective joint venture partner aspirations.


What we are looking for


Qualified accountant with post qualification experience. Sector experience would be useful. 


Excellent knowledge of accounting practices, statutory regulations and reporting requirements
Well-developed finance management and analytical skills
Ability to achieve tight deadlines with a high degree of quality and understanding
Good systems and process knowledge


Commercially focussed with proven track record of delivering improvements in an operational environment
