What is the purpose of this role?

To implement, administer, monitor and audit the application of the safe system of work as defined by the Gas Safety Case across all sites within area of responsibility. This successful person will be required to travel throughout the Southeast to our MOD site’s.

What will this role involve?

Technical Responsibilities

To advise the Head of Compliance on those systems and installations to which the MOD Gas Safety Case apply on the Amey contract.
To implement, administer, monitor and audit the application of the Safe System of Work as defined by the Gas Safety Case for the nominated disciplines.
To appoint Responsible Persons in accordance with the Gas Safety Case and assess the competence of Responsible Persons for initial and continuing appointment
To support the Responsible Persons and Operations teams in meeting the requirements of the Gas Safety Case.
Review site risk registers, follow maintenance and management processes, implement Amey regional procedures to ensure either remedy or request for contract action to DIO of any defects on equipment or systems and attained and contribute to risk meetings as required.
To investigate dangerous occurrences and accidents which occur while a permit to work is in force; report findings to the Head of Compliance, RP SESHEF Manager and the DIO Senior Authorising Authority as required.
Produce or enable Responsible Persons to provide high quality Risk Assessments and Method Statements and, where required, issue safety programmes and Permits to Work.
To carry out and/or support Responsible Persons / Operations teams to ensure the requirements of JSP (relating to Gas installations and equipment) in relation to the introduction of new works and agree any departures from JSP375 with DIO.
To advise the Head of Compliance for input to senior management stakeholders in writing of any deficiencies in the Safe Systems of Work, which could prevent the Estate from being maintained in a safe condition.
To act as a Commissioning Manager for substantial Core Services or Additional Works projects, preparing commissioning plans, monitoring programmes, co-ordinating commissioning activity and witnessing the commissioning of new equipment, where necessary. To ensure any Responsible Person carrying out such duties is competent and supported.
Identify opportunities to Head of Compliance on establishments that will support the MoD’s carbon reduction targets
To oversee implementation and ongoing completion of Quality Assurance, Health & Safety and Sustainability processes, linking with and through the Head of Compliance.

People Responsibilities

Lead by example across the Amey contract and drive the achievement of the Company’s objectives by demonstrating commitment to our values and strategy.
To carry out an annual review of the Safe Systems of Work and Responsible Persons under their control and summarise the findings in a report to the appropriate stakeholders (as agreed with Head of Compliance and the DIO SAA, to ensure visibility in the RP SE SMT / DIO stakeholders of the effectiveness of the systems implemented on the Contract.

To provide input through the Operations teams to contribute to DIO/ TLB on matters related to existing installations and their interaction with new works or specific project proposals.
To ensure there are sufficient Responsible Persons and supply chain engineers to provide proper cover for the site operations and in accordance with the contracted provisions.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders associated with the Gas Safety Case within RP SE, across the Amey contracts and in the DIO SAA community.
Develop and implement good collaborative working practices in line with the principles of BS11000 Collaborative Working standard.

 
 
 

What are we looking for?

 

To be qualified and hold an MOD / DIO Gas Safety Manager License or achieve within an agreed timeframe, not expected to exceed 9 months.                                                                                                                                         

To hold or achieve within 12 months IEng Status with a clear path for completion of that agreed with Head of Compliance and DIO SAA within 3 months                                                                                                                        

To achieve and maintain Security Clearance from MOD within reasonable timeframes                                                                                                                                        

To support the Head of Compliance and team leads in technical and assurance related activities as directed                                                                                                      

To have technical experience and knowledge of Natural Gas and LPG Networks and Utilisation systems.
